THE PERSONAL INFORMATION
BOGDANOV
Alexander V., b. 1948, Russian, graduated from Leningrad State University
as Applied Mathematician, has become the doctor of sciences as Theoretical
Physicist, has become professor of a chair of Computational mathematics
and is elected to the Academy of Natural Sciences of Russian Federation
on a speciality Computing and mathematical physics.
The
main professional area of interests is connected to mathematical methods
of physics, methods of calculations, mathematical modeling. Recently from
a wide spectrum of applied problems the main efforts are concentrated in
the field of creation of databases and bases of knowledge for a number of
applied directions and creation of algorithms of high-performance computations. At
the same time he had to solve the problems of organization of computer cluster
on diverse computer platforms, i.e. problem of network integration.
The
object area, in which main scientific results were received, is connected
to the Russian and international airspace programs. From the most important
note here "Vega - Helley comet", "the Mars- 94". Other
important applied programs are database on physical -chemical gas dynamics
optimization of a technological laser on HF.
As
main activity in the last years it is possible to consider organization and
development of the Institute of Interphase Interactions, created for realization
of international programs. It has very close contacts with European Union.
It is enough to say, that in the Institute two basic centres of COMNET and
ERCOFTAC were created. Last is unique in Russia. The scientists of the Institute
work on a number of Europrograms - TASIS, TRIBUNE, DELTA. The Institute
has applied on the new programs for this year TELEMATICA, LEONARDO, EUROMATH,
and also to the specialized programs of NATO and CNRS. Bogdanov has large
experience of development of the joint programs and negotiations on them.
The most important contribution was the development of the Supercomputer
Centre in St.Petersburg, with CONVEX C-3440 and C-3820 supercomputers and
optocable connection to Nordunet. He is the member of International Physical
Society, and member of organizational committees of several international
workshops. He has about 160 publications, including 4 books.
